AASHTO RIDES*

Roadways Into Developing Elementary Students (RIDES) is an AASHTO program designed to interest K-8 students in transportation careers while improving their math, science and engineering skills.  Over a two-day period, teachers are trained on over 30 hands-on NGSS and Common Core-aligned activities and, at the conclusion of the training, are provided with a "trunk" filled with all of the materials needed to implement the activities in their classrooms.

With the help of PECG, the PREP Foundation has brought the RIDES program to California by coordinating the teacher training workshops and securing the funding to do so.  As teachers utilize the the trunks in the classrooms, PREP also arranges for state engineer mentors to visit and speak in RIDES classes at the request of teachers.
